Blackbird

Song of the Day: Beatles - Blackbird

This is going to be my new April Fool resolution: Blog everyday
.

You would think the hardest part would be to think of something to crap about but I disagree. Instead, I think the hardest part would be thinking of the
Song of the Day
. What? With my ultra large music collection, I would think this would be an easy feat. Yeah, right.

My day started off on a wrong foot as I woke up earlier than I intended too. With eyes blazing and head spinning, the first thing I did when I woke up was .... Nope, not too brush teeth or tidy the bed but ... check the results from yesterday's MU match against Roma. Seeing that MU made it safely into the semi finals put me in a jovial mood and I strut towards the bathroom for my morning routine. Then, I made myself a hot cup of cocoa and enjoyed it while browsing the net. Recently, I have become a trader. Yeap, that's right. A trader who trades in the sharemarket. Haha. I joined this JP Morgan
(potential employer?) competition where all contestants are given $$ to trade shares. At the end of the month, the person whose portfolio is most superior wins $$. So I figured, Why Not?
though I wasn't much of a trader. That explains why my portfolio is registering a negative amount at the moment. So much for getting my hands on that $$.

Brisbane has been chilly lately
(which I like!) and it took me a while to decide what to wear. Honestly, I have become so fickle-minded these days. Signs of old age. I almost forgot that I had an exam today during 1st period. Honest to God, it slipped my mind while I was praying the night before. Anyhow, it turned out to be a piece of cake. I shouldn't have spent so much time studying it. Ish. Then, I had 2 hours to kill which I spent it luxuriating (Is that even a word?)
on the green, green grass of UQ. Ah... this is what uni is all about. I'm so gonna miss UQ come July.

I could go on recapping my day but let's face it... it's boring stuff. Even I nearly fell asleep writing it. So, where do we go from here?

MU vs Barcelona in the semi's. Hmm... Would this be Milan all over again? I had such high hopes last season but it all came crashing down on the 2nd leg. Needless to say, my heart was broken. Argh! But Barcelona hasn't been at their top gear lately and in contrast MU has been in spectacular form ('cept for the hiccup on Sun against Middleborough). Anyway, I do fancy MU's chances to get to the final and face up against either Liv or Chelsea. Maybe
(Do I dare to hope?)
this would be MU's year again! Bring on '99!

I had an random thought while I was watching Getaway on TV earlier. Where would I wanna spend my honeymoon? The practical side of me
(save $$) would say, "Aiya, just go Bali niya" but the romantic side was saying, "Italy? Spain? France?" I was also thinking of how exotic it would be to honeymoon in Egypt. But in the end, I would want a European experience. Spain, especially. With the historical buildings, the pretty sidewalks, the Old World aura, the wonderfull aroma of food and the man you love walking beside you, isn't it romantic
??

Not bad a blogpost considering I have nary an interesting thing to say today. I better stop while I'm ahead =)

Bleeding Love

Song of the Day: Leona Lewis - Bleeding Love

I know, I know... WHERE THE HELL HAVE I BEEN?

My sincerest apologies to you, my dear blog. I have no excuses except that I've been really, really, REALLY not in the mood to blog. Ergo, nothing to write about.

It's already April. Fast forward another 3 months and I would have been a GRADUATE. Gosh! After nearly 20 years of student life, I can't comprehend the fact of me being a working adult. On that front, NO, I still haven't gotten a job offer (though I'm trying my damnedest to secure one). Damn, what the hell are those companies looking for? SUPERWOMAN? My resume is impeccable (if I must say so myself). Anyway, enough of the saddest story of my life.

Oh wait, is there even a good story in my life right now? I'm neck deep in midterm tests, 2 assignments and countless (hopefully) interviews to prepare for. April is turning into a MONTH OF MADNESS. But here I am still blogging away. I figured I owe it to you after all the neglect to at least pen down some of my pent-up emotions due to "stress" from uni.

C'mon. Me? Stressed? Yeah right. That word does not exist in my dictionary. I am as HAPPY-GO-LUCKY as a hippie can be. Speaking of hippie, the love-of-my-life idol, Jason Castro scored again on the homefront. And he did it on the most bizarre (and unexpected) song choice, Somewhere Over The Rainbow. I was expecting the Judy Garland version to come out from him but I was mildly surprised to hear a ukelele version of it. Truth be told, I can't understand why everyone is singing his praises over that song (Sure, it's good but was it THAT good?). But, being a lifetime fan, I shall not complain on Simon's "Fantastic!" remark. Speaking of Idol, I so wanna watch IDOL GIVES BACK! Why can't I be studying in America?

Actually, I have an exam tomorrow. Talk about my bad timing. But I have this pre-exam syndrome which has been a pain in the ass for recent years. 1 day before the test, I lost all interest in studying, even to the point of watching movies or reading novels to pass the time. I can't help it! Is this complacency? I listed that as one of my weaknesses during my interview preparation. The other one is, (drum roll) PROCRASTINATION, which I'm willing to bet almost every person my age is guilty of. My other weakness, laziness. Haha. But I doubt prospective employers would wanna hear that.

I guess it's time to revert back to my books. I need to keep up appearances after all =)

Blue Bayou

Song of the Day: Linda Ronstadt - Blue Bayou

"Saving nickels, saving dimes
Working till the sun don't shine
Looking forward to happier times
On the Blue Bayou"
If only all of us have our own Blue Bayou where happiness lies. I wish I know where is mine =)
As you've probably already figured out by now, my blogging rate is seriously deteriorating of late. I just lack the inspiration and the desire to blog anything, even if something interesting is happening in my life. Not that I'm suggesting it is, cause it ain't.
For the 1st time in my entire life, I was interested in the outcome of the general election just held yesterday in Malaysia. I never knew politics could be so exciting but this year, with the racial tensions hoopla and practically all my peers having a say at it, I decided to jump on the bandwagon. I came back home at 12am yesterday after a dismal showing of 10,000 BC and I found myself hooked in front of the laptop, searching for latest news of the results. I couldn't stay away for 2 hours and everytime I decided to lay my head to rest, some exciting results were announced. It turned out I wasn't the only one among my friends who were diligently following the election process. My MSN chatroom had turned into some political forum for a while. Haha. I guess this is an indication of us becoming ADULTS. 5 years ago, I couldn't care less about politics at all.
Speaking of politics, I guess I should shut up now or else risk being shut down by the gov. But I think at this time, they have more important things to worry about (like the fact they lost 5 states to the opposition). Anyway, yesterday was a day of surprises alright. Both MU and Chelsea lost respectively in their FA Cup ties. The saving grace for MU was that Chelsea's lost was significantly more humiliating as they lost to some unknown 2nd tier team. Haha. Thanks Chelsea! If we can't have it, you can't either =)
So, it's going to be Week 3 soon. Time is really running by swiftly. I remembered a time before I left Malaysia, blogging about the same thing. But that time, I was dreading the time to leave Msia. Now, I'm dreading the time to leave Oz. Such a turnaround, I'll say.
The truth is, I'm ambivalent about staying in Oz. On one hand, I like the simplistic and laid-back lifestyle of the Aussies. On the other, I want to be close to my family and friends. Then, there's my career to think about. Needless to say, Australia ain't exactly the financial capital of the world so opportunities are rare. The point is moot anyhow. In order to stay and work in Oz, I need a PR and we all know that isn't a possibility. If somehow I can charm an angmo dude to fall in love with me within the next 3 months and grant me de facto PR, then it might become a reality. But we all know, my romantic prowesses ain't exactly my strongest "quality".
Anyway, my future career is all I can think about these days. I really, really want to secure a job before I graduate or else I would deem myself "incompetent". Such high standards I know. Some might say it's still a bit early to look for a job but the best jobs (investment banking) are as competitive as it gets and you really have to step up a notch to get that "dream" job. I want to be earning $7k a month!! I want to be a part of Morgan Stanley, Merrill Lynch, Credit Suisse, or even Macquarie and be the envy of all my peers!
Sigh, sometimes I think my ego is my biggest enemy. Actually, most of the time it has proven to be my downfall. So,
Screw you, EGO!

Walking On The Sun

Song of the Day: Smashmouth - Walking On The Sun

Today is figuratively, a walk on the sun. It's bloody 38 degrees outside and I'm barely surviving with my stand fan (full blast and facing me) here in my really hot room. Phew. And ironically, there's an aircon in my room but I can't even use it. Oh, winter, where art thou?

Anyway, I'm back to my blogging mood since uni is just around the corner. On Mon, it's back to the lecture theatres and ogling cute college dudes for me. Not for the 1st time in this week, I'm wondering where the hell my summer has gone. Has it been 3 months since last sem ended already?

I'm kinda looking forward to uni. Sorta. I want to be back to my productive ways again. Plus, it's the last sem! This is it. The beginning of an end to my student life. I HAVE to make it GREAT. Anyhow, there's still the weekend to enjoy but with this kind of weather, it's kinda hard to do just that.

So, the new American Idol season is here. Whoo-hoo! I have been diligently following it ever since and I have to say, it doesn't get old for me. It is Season 7 after all but I still like it. I like the spar between Simon and Ryan, the rags-to-riches stories of the contestants, the group performances and of course, the chance to improve my musical education. And again, Idol never failed me. During the Top 12 Men night, I discovered an oldie but goldie sung by my favourite so far, Jason Castro.

-Check out Channel [Von] at the bottom of the page for his performance -

The song is "What A Day For A Daydream" by Loving Spoonful. Anyway, I liked him as he sang with sincerity and plus, he's really cute in a Bob Marley kind of way (not that I think Bob Marley is cute but his hair reminded me of the legend). Furthermore, he sang while strumming guitar and you know I have a real weakness for guitar-playing guys.

You might take a look at his pic and say "What? He's so not cute!!" but I assure you, if he crops his dreadlocks (not that I wish him to coz it suits him just fine) he can be a real looker. Anyway, I love, love him! Can't wait to see how he fares during Week 2.

In Bugs Bunny fashion, That's all folks.

So Long Sweet Summer

Song of the Day: Dashboard Confessionals - So Long Sweet Summer

Yes, indeedy. So long, summer.

3 months have flown by as quickly as the blink of an eye but I have yet to blog about any my summer experiences. Not to allude to the fact that I have a lot of wild experiences to tell anyway. In fact it's just the complete opposite. No, I did not fall in love. No, I did not bungee-jumped. No, I did not do anything that is remotely exciting.

My 3 summer months can be summarized in just 1 word in each:

Dec - Work
Jan - Melbourne
Feb - Omega

Let's see. In Dec, I managed to get myself a high-paying summer job working as an usher during the UQ Graduation ceremonies. After attending so many grad ceremonies, I think the euphoria of waiting for mine has worn off. I've heard so many valedictorian speeches and stood in my heels for hours that I'm glad they're paying me $22 per hour or else, I could really revolt. But I shouldn't complained so much. Many good things have come from my working as an usher and I don't just mean the extremely good pay. Hmm.

And then there was Christmas. For the 1st time in my life, I'm spending the holiday season away from home. It's a novelty that I welcomed as I finally realized how much my family means to me. I had always been taking them for granted (Don't we all?). Oh yes, I finally went to church for the very 1st time on Xmas Eve. Forgive me , Lord, for I have truly sinned against you.

New Year's Eve was a more memorable event as I flew to Melbourne for 1 week. Melbourne was (to sum it all up) HOT but FUN! The very 1st day I sat foot in the city, I was literally swarmed with flies. They always say: Malaysia is like a steam cooker while Australia is like an oven. I never figured out the phrase until I came to Melbourne. It reached 40 degrees on NY Eve! Anyway, I ushered in 2008 on the banks of the Yarra River with fireworks and good company. My NY resolution? Lose 2 kg's. Seems like such an easy task isn't it? Sigh. I guess I have to watch more of The Biggest Loser to motivate me.

I love the Melbourne skyline. And the food! My aunt and uncle who lives in Melbourne took me on an exciting culinary adventure involving Chinese and French cuisine. The Peking Duck I had was marvellous and I've finally had the guts (and the means) to taste escargot! Wow. Eating snails. I think that's the worst (or best?) thing that I've eaten in my life. And then there was Crown Casino. I won $22! Haha. Beginner's luck I supposed. Also, we took a day trip down to Mornington Peninsula where we visited vineyards, tasted wine, pluck cherries and soaked in the hot springs. In a nutshell, Melbourne was fun and I wouldn't hesitate to visit it again in the near future. Maybe I could go to the Great Ocean Road then?

The rest of my January went by quickly as I was immersed with the world of tennis. C'mon. Channel 7 shows Australian Open live everyday! I can't possibly NOT watch it right? Anyway, I'm glad Novak Djokivic beat the almighty Roger Federer in the semis. Wahaha. Total domination ain't good for the game, Roger.

And then, February came around. Omega was visiting Queensland for the very 1st time so yay! Another opportunity to go scouring around the state. But first, there was CNY to celebrate. CNY in Brissy was ... dull and lifeless. In fact, CNY could pass right by and I wouldn't have noticed if not for the fact that my brother called me from home to brag about the various food they had for reunion dinner. Ish.

We went to Australia Zoo in the Sunshine Coast but I was truly disappointed. The animals they had there were mostly, crocodiles (It is the Crocodile Hunter's zoo after all) and koalas (Yes, I know they're cute but let's face it, they're boring creatures). We also went to Gold Coast which was loads of fun! Movie World, Wet N Wild, Surfer's Paradise and Q1! Gosh, Q1 was amazing! The view was faboulous!

Anyway, that's the story of my summer. Not much to tell but at least I wasn't just bumping around doing nothing productive (though for some periods I was doing just that :). Uni is starting soon and it's back to reality. This is my last sem here in Oz and I wanna make this the best 6 months I ever had in my life. And then, there's graduation and then it's time for me to join the workforce. If only I could secure the dream job that I want....

But until then, here's to my next 6 months here! Salud!

Hmm. That reminds me. I haven't been drinking in a while. Speaking of drinking, there was one time in my summer where I nearly got fined for drinking in public. Geesh. Argh, I wanna go clubbing at Family!

Joy To The World

Song of the Day: Three Dog Night - Joy To The World

Yoohoo! I am back. Wahaha.

Sorry. It's been a hell of a fortnight and so. Firstly, the most disastrous thing that could ever happen to you when you're overseas happened to me. Gosh, my laptop broke down. Hence, that explains my long hiatus from blogging (and internet in general, actually).

Stupid, I tell you. My LCD bulb died so eventhough the laptop was working fine and dandy, I couldn't see a bloody thing on the screen. In fact, I had to improvise by placing my desklamp over the screen to see it which of course, hurt my eyes so much that I had headache for days. Sigh. After a while, I gave up trying to use it at all.

I had to travel like 1 hour to get to the HP place just to discover that to repair it would cost me freaking $800 bucks!! That day was a bad day for me. I was in some suburb called Geebung and I happened to get lost while walking under the super hot sun. Stupid, stupid.

And then, my housemate (which made a pact with me in the first place to stay in Brisbane throughout summer no matter what) decided she wanted to go home. Coupled with another housemate who's going back in Jan, that leaves me and another housemate together for 1 month alone in the apartment. Sigh. Bore-ville, here I come.
And then, last Saturday I made plans to go watch a carols outdoor concert in the city. Through circumstances beneath my grasp, I reached a bit later that I expected to and to my aghast, it turned out that they had already barricaded the door and won't allow anyone else to enter because it was too crowded. I was like, "Are you shitting me?!?!" I was so looking forward to enjoy myself singing carols and seeing Guy Sebastian in person but alas, I was to remain disappointed. But anyway, that night was saved a bit as we went Southbank to catch Beowulf for a late night movie. Beowulf was, well, not what I expected but if you wanna see a half-naked Angelina Jolie, then by all means, go for it (On the other hand, you just have to watch Original Sin to catch her in full flesh). Actually, Beowulf is not half-bad.

Anyway, that was 2 weeks ago. Everything has changed since then (at least I like to think so). I have a new laptop now! Woohoo! It's a DELL INSPIRON 6400 with specs like 2Gb RAM and 160Gb of hard disk space. And it costs my father just $1000! (Ok, fine. That's in $AUD but still, it's quite cheap).

It's looking pretty good right now though Vista can be a pain in the ass sometimes, though it is cool. But I sure miss my ol' HP lappie. Sob sob. I thought we could last for like 5 years or so, but you failed me. Tsk tsk.
Anyway, getting a new laptop wasn't the crux of my excitement. Well, today I had a normal chat with my brother and we started discussing about his and my parents' pending arrival in July for my graduation ceremony. The original plan was to head down to Melbourne to visit my aunt before coming back to Brissy but after much consideration and planning, the costs was just too much to bear.
So, he said, "Why don't you go to Melbourne yourself?"
I replied, "Well, I was planning to but the costs are too much."
And miraclously, he wrote, "Just head on down yourself. I'll pay for it."
I was like, "Are you FREAKING serious?"
He wrote, "Yeah, sure. You deserved it."
I was pretty dumbstruck and asked, "Who are you and what have you done to my brother?"
Which was a rhetorical question to say the least but that my friend, has got the wheels turning. So then, I quickly searched for cheap airline tickets and after getting approval from everyone involved (Melbourne pals, Mom and Dad), I booked myself a return ticket to Melbourne on 30th Dec. Yeap, that's right. I'm ushering the New Year of 2008 in MELBOURNE!!! YAY!!!
Wahahaha. And that's why I couldn't stop jumping up and down now. It's so cool! I'll be spending 1 week in Melb and everything seems to be peachy at the moment. Hehe.
You know, the best things in life are always surprises and unexpected events. I can't tell you how happy I am right now but I can tell you this: My brother is the ABSOLUTE BEST BROTHER in the whole wide world. Love you, bro! Muaxxxx.....
Of course, there's a catch somewhere in there. He's been keeping tabs on how much I owe him nowadays and it has currently gone up by RM1000. Looks like I have to invest his money wisely next time and make him a millionaire to finally settle my long-lasting debt.
:)
Oh, but it's gonna be worth it.

Isn't She Lovely

Song of the Day: Stevie Wonder - Isn't She Lovely

I know it's been a while since I last blogged. I don't have any excuses since exams are over and I still haven't started working... I'm just really lazy, I guess. It's funny coz I only have the mood to blog when I'm swarmed with assignments and exams but when I'm totally free with so much time on my hands, I don't blog. Oh well.

Anyway, it's been about 1 week since finals were over. Results are coming out next week and then, it's SUMMER!! So what do people do when you're free from uni life? Go TRAVEL of course! But first of all, being in Oz you would absolutely have to see their native animals right? So, one fine day, we went to the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary located about 30 minutes from the CBD. Apparently, it was the biggest koala sanctuary. Well, I don't know if that's true of they exaggerated it, but there was definitely a LOT of koalas: retirement koalas, bachelor koalas, lady koalas, you name it, they've got it! Besides koalas, there were a bunch of wild kangaroos hopping around too. Anyway, I'm too lazy to explain. I'll let the pictures do all the talking, eh?

One of the many kangaroos that we saw. You can actually get very close to it! In fact, I took a coupla shots to my heart's content and the roo just stood there, posing. It's like, "Yawn, another human taking a picture with me again..." But they're really nice creatures. Unfortunately, I did not see a joey.

If you see clearly, the koala at the back was actually scratching himself. Haha.

They do look like huggable soft toys, don't they? They're so CUTE and ADORABLE!! And, they sleep all the time. Either that, or they eat. What a lifestyle.

Somewhere in the middle of the city. I think it's in front of the courts.
Anyway, I just celebrated my 22nd. Another year older but wiser? Hmm.. it remains to be seen. I remembered my birthday wish this year was the same as the last. Haha. Guess it shows that birthday wishes rarely come true. Let's just hope I won't wish the same thing on my 23rd [crossing fingers]. Being away from family and close friends, I had to improvised for this year's birthday. So, I devised a 2-days plan to make it special. We rented a car, drove ourselves all over Brissy and even went to Australia's most easternly point in Byron Bay. And, what a trip it had been!

Byron Bay is SOOooooOOO BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!! Nothing can compare with it, not even the beaches at Langkawi. The water was soooo blue with a touch of green and the sand, so fine. Complete with the sprawling expanse of hills as the backdrop, it was truly a sight to behold!

More from Byron Bay.... Too bad I didn't catch any sight of dolphins or whales or turtles...

Clarkes Beach at Byron Bay. The only thing missing was surfer dudes. And also my swimsuit! Why didn't we bring our swimsuits?!?! The water was so inviting.... and cold... Brrr....

The famous Byron Bay Lighthouse...

This was taken from the top of Mt Cootha, the highest peak in Brissy.

Me with the snippy little car, Nissan Tiida. I rediscovered my love for driving! And I reaffirmed what I've always suspected ... I have great direction and map reading skills. Hehe.

At the Byron Bay Lighthouse.... What a sight! You just wish you could stay there forever and ever....
It had been another memorable burfday but I wish I could have my closest friends and family with me. Then, it would have been perfect. But, one can't have it all. Byron Bay was a great substitute though. But a word of advice for those thinking of making a trip there: 1 day is enough. In fact 6 hours should be adequate. Or else, you would probably die of boredom there. Hehe. Unless you're a surfer dude of course. Then, you would have felt you've come home.
Home... Sigh. Spending the whole summer here while everyone I know is going home. Never mind. I shall persevere! I shall make this the best SUMMER ever! Somehow, I know I will.
P.S: Thanks to everyone who made my birthday a memorable one. To my housemates who bought me a really delicious chocolate, caramel cheese cake (Yummy!), my family who called me, my friends who called+messaged+facebooked+MSN-ed me .... Thanks from the bottom of my heart [hugs and kisses]

Goodbye Mr. A

Song of the Day: The Hoosiers - Goodbye Mr. A

It's NOVEMBER!!! Yay yay! My favourite month of the year for obvious reason (Hint: Starts with a B and ends with -day).

Brissy's been chilly again lately. Hey, I ain't complaining. In fact, I'm lauding it! If only the weather could be like this all year round. Sigh. HOW THE HELL AM I GONNA COPE IN SUMMER?? I think I need to buy another fan.

I detest hot weather! Firstly, it's freaking HOT and the sun rays are literally shining on you. Then, you get all sweaty and need to bathe again (With Brissy's water restriction, this is not good). The worst of it all, those stupid fat flies that keeps on bothering you and wouldn't buzz off even if you swiped at them. Grrr...

But it's chilly now. And I like it! The weather's perfect for sleep-ins which I did today since I had no exams scheduled. So there I was, sleeping and dreaming about .... [non-bloggable stuffs] when the door buzz cruelly woke me up. Apparently, I had a post package. Oooooh, a package? Who could it be from??

I saw that the package was labeled Amazon so it meant that it was most probably a book. Who in the world would sent me a book?? [puzzled] I gleely opened the package and my glee turned into bewilderment when Alan Greenspan's face looked back at me. For those uninitiated, Mr. Greenspan used to be the most powerful man in the world; US Federal Reserve Chairman. If you go "Huh?" then never mind. It's all economic and finance stuff. There and then, I knew who was the sender even before I read the message inserted.

God, bro. Why didn't you send me some Nora Roberts book?!?!

"Dear Von, Merry Early Xmas! Heard it's a great book. Give me the review when you're done. Luv, Kor"

Damn. He wants a review. That means by hook or by crook, I have to finish reading the 500-pages thick book.

But where's my gratitude?? It's a Xmas pressie after all. So, after a few minutes of cursing and raising a storm, I realized how sweet a gesture it was. Reading the book was for my own good after all. So, Kor, thanks so much!! Please ignore above statements ya. I really do appreciate it. You're the BEST BROTHER EVER!!! (The fact that you're my only brother ever does not apply here) XOXO!!!

I should be getting back to my books since I do have an early exam tomorrow at 8-FREAKING-am!! I can foresee ahead that I would be a walking zombie. Damn, I need to score on this paper!! My exams are 50% through anyway. Yippee!!
Can't wait for summer to come! (Damn, I'm contradicting myself)
I mean, I can't wait for the semester to be over so that I can go enjoy myself. Not the weather though. I hate summer weather.

Sexy Back

Song of the Day: Justin Timberlake - Sexy Back

I just came back from JT's concert.

One word: AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MARVELOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SPECTACULAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ah!!! It was so WORTH my every penny and entire shopping allowance for the year. Haha. I never thought I could ever substitute buying bags for something else, but, JT is it. I'm so GLAD I made the right choice to go for it. Wouldn't have missed it for the world!

Anyway before I begin, there was only one sore spot from the concert: They did not allow cameras to be brought in. WHAT THE HELL?!?!?! How was I going to prove to everyone that I went to see Justin in concert live then?!?!?!

The concert began at 8pm but we were already there at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre at 6pm. Jeffrey was our driver for the day (Thanks so much, Jeff!!!) and we even rented a car just so that we could go for the concert (which on hindsight, was a fantastic idea as the concert ended at about 11.30pm and there were no public transportations operating that late). Justin, the things we do for you... Tsk tsk. Nah. Just kidding. I still LOVE you.

Anyway, so with 2 hours to kill, me and Ling Ling spent our sweet time munching chips and chatting away while the place began to fill up with lots and lots of people. Surprisingly, the crowd wasn't truly dominated by female fans only. Incredibly, there was a significant amount of male species there to watch JT too! Even more shocking, I saw a couple of grandma's out there complete with their party attire! I kid you not!

About 7.30pm, the doors to the auditorium opened and all of us swarmed in like a flock of birds. We found our seats where we discovered the view was pretty OK though it wasn't really near the stage. We took our seats, eagerly awaiting for the moment when JT will appear on stage. The auditorium slowly filled to the brink but there was still no sign of JT's cute butt. At 8pm, a lady singer (who looked like Pink) came onto the stage as the opening act. She sang a couple of songs but the crowd was not being supportive at all. C'mon, let's face it. We all came to see Justin, right? So after a couple of songs, she took her bow and left. It was 8.30pm.

Where was he?!?!?! The sense of anticipation was palpable in the air while everyone waited anxiously to see him. To will the time away, some section of the crowd started a Mexican wave which kept us amused for a couple of minutes. The time was 8.45pm. Justin was still MIA. The tension began to build.

Then, suddenly..... the lights went dim and everyone started screaming their lungs out. The music blasted out and we knew, this was it! Woohoo!!! I was up from my seat, straining to see above all the heads for a sign of him on the stage. There was a white veil that concealed the stage and through it, I could see a form slowly emerging from the ranks below. And then, the veil lifted and there was him! Justin Timberlake! In flesh and blood! Right in front of me! AAAAHHHHH!!!!!!
Needless to say, the crowd went wild (yours truly included). His first song was Future Sex/Love Sound. Then, he did an array of songs which not only included his latest album songs, but also his former Justified album for hits like Senorita, Like I Love You, Cry Me A River, Gone (NSYNC) and Rock Your Body. My favourite performances in the 1st part of his show was What Goes Around, Comes Around and Sexy Ladies. He also did My Love, complete with a solo dance performance as in the MTV. Wow, can he dance!!! If he wasn't a hugely successful and popular solo artist already, I would have suggested he joined So You Think You Can Dance. By the way, I just found out tonight that Justin not only sings, but he can also play musical instruments. Beyond cool!

About 10pm, the concert broke for an interval. By then, my throat was sore from all the screaming and seeing as Justin has a phobia for bottle caps, no bottled waters were allowed in the auditorium. Hence, no water to drink. Aiks. Me and Ling Ling spent the interval time cam-whoring away with Jeff's phone camera. Only then, we discovered that the phone could record up to 1 hour. Aiya. Why didn't we discover it earlier?!?!

Back from interval. The screaming continued. He did Summer Love, Damn Girl, Love Stoned and a couple of others before he did the one song which we had all been waiting for. He saved it till the last but it was SO worth it: Sexy Back! "I'm bringing Sexy Back ....." I was singing along whole-heartedly and shamelessly with the rest of the crowd. Wahaha.

With that, it seemed over. Justin and his crew left the stage but we knew it wasn't the END yet. The crowd demanded an encore and after leaving us waiting for a couple of minutes, Justin appeared back on stage in a casual T-shirt and jeans attire. He said some stuff that made us laugh and also how he's thankful for his job (so cliched but still...) and that he's doing it for all the fans yada yada. In short, it was more like a screaming session as every word that came out of his mouth, we would scream anyway. Haha.

Anyway, the last part of the concert was my favourite one. He sang All Over Again (my favourite song from the whole album) complete with piano accompaniment. The crowd was mesmerized and we swayed along with him to the soulful tune. I managed to get it all on video. Yay!!

So that was it, folks. The end of a wonderful and magical night with Justin Timberlake. When we came outside, it was raining cats-and-dogs. Was our singing that terrible?!?! Haha. Jeff, the sweetheart was already waiting for us at the car park from 10pm onwards. The concert finished at 11.30pm. Oh dearie. We took about 30mins to leave the place as there was a slight traffic jam caused by the massive amount of cars leaving at the same time. By the time I reached home, it was 12.30am. But what a fun-filled day it has been! I'm so grateful I had this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to witness Justin in concert and what a concert it was! AWESOME! Thanks, Justin!

Anyway, a funny little story to add. While Jeff was waiting for us, he bonded with a couple of dads who were waiting for their daughters with umbrellas.

One dad was asking the other, "Who is this guy, Justin Timberlake anyway?"

The other equally clueless dad answered gruntly, "I don't know. All I know is he damn makes more money than us poor souls waiting out here in the rain!"

Tsk tsk, Justin. Look what you've done. Haha. Hilarious!
P.S: Pics and videos from the concert will be uploaded next time.

Transylvania

Song of the Day: McFly - Transylvania

Brr... It's cold in here. There must be some flies in the atmosphere.

Oh wait. It's just Brissy's crazy weather. It's spring now but it's as chilly as it was in winter. And today I had the brightest idea of wearing shorts to uni since recently, the weather was hot as hell and it seemed to be the fashion statement around uni. But, when I walked out of my front door today, I knew instantly that it was such a bad idea as the wind was blowing and the sun wasn't shining. Oh crap. At least I brought my sweater. Why do I always have to wear the wrong thing at the wrong time?

So recently, I have been listening to McFly again. The boys from London are fantastic! Their song above is faboulous and I just love their previous songs like "Too Close For Comfort" and "All About You". Plus, most of the members are really cute. It wouldn't be ME if there weren't any cute guys involved, right?

They aren't THAT young la. Some people have been commenting on me thinking that Zac Efron whose (incredibly) just 2 years younger than me is HOT. What's wrong with younger guys? They're cute just the same. But of course, I prefer Men. :)

I have been obsessed with YouTube as of lately. I spent the entire last weekend surfing and perusing through various videos on the website like my favourite movie music scenes, concerts, music clips and acapella competitions. Speaking of favourite movie music scenes, do you remember .....
  1. My Best Friend's Wedding - When Rupert Everett broke off into Dionne Warwick's "I Say A Little Prayer" and the entire patrons at the restaurant sang along with him much to Julia Roberts' embarassment. Aaww....
  2. Remember The Titans - The locker room scene where the guys were cracking "Mama" jokes and the guys sang along to "Ain't No Mountain High Enough". Not to mention, that scene also involved some "guy bonding". Sunshine...... [sing song voice]

  3. Sister Act I and II - Don't you just love nuns who sing beautifully? I love that part where the boy sang "Oh Happy Day" and reached that VERY high note much to everyone's surprise [even I can't reach that note]

  4. Never Been Kissed - The final scene where Drew Barrymore stood waiting on the baseball pitch waiting for Michael Vartan to run up and kiss her with The Beach Boys "Don't Worry Baby" playing in the background. Aawww.... He's so cute! This remains one of my favourite movie ever.

  5. The Replacements - The prison cell scene where they started singing "I Will Survive" and dancing the electric slide.

Ah. Don't you just love music in movies?
