Yoohoo! I am back. Wahaha.
Sorry. It's been a hell of a fortnight and so. Firstly, the most disastrous thing that could ever happen to you when you're overseas happened to me. Gosh, my laptop broke down. Hence, that explains my long hiatus from blogging (and internet in general, actually).
Stupid, I tell you. My LCD bulb died so eventhough the laptop was working fine and dandy, I couldn't see a bloody thing on the screen. In fact, I had to improvise by placing my desklamp over the screen to see it which of course, hurt my eyes so much that I had headache for days. Sigh. After a while, I gave up trying to use it at all.
I had to travel like 1 hour to get to the HP place just to discover that to repair it would cost me freaking $800 bucks!! That day was a bad day for me. I was in some suburb called Geebung and I happened to get lost while walking under the super hot sun. Stupid, stupid.
And then, my housemate (which made a pact with me in the first place to stay in Brisbane throughout summer no matter what) decided she wanted to go home. Coupled with another housemate who's going back in Jan, that leaves me and another housemate together for 1 month alone in the apartment. Sigh. Bore-ville, here I come.
And then, last Saturday I made plans to go watch a carols outdoor concert in the city. Through circumstances beneath my grasp, I reached a bit later that I expected to and to my aghast, it turned out that they had already barricaded the door and won't allow anyone else to enter because it was too crowded. I was like, "Are you shitting me?!?!" I was so looking forward to enjoy myself singing carols and seeing Guy Sebastian in person but alas, I was to remain disappointed. But anyway, that night was saved a bit as we went Southbank to catch Beowulf for a late night movie. Beowulf was, well, not what I expected but if you wanna see a half-naked Angelina Jolie, then by all means, go for it (On the other hand, you just have to watch Original Sin to catch her in full flesh). Actually, Beowulf is not half-bad.
Anyway, that was 2 weeks ago. Everything has changed since then (at least I like to think so). I have a new laptop now! Woohoo! It's a DELL INSPIRON 6400 with specs like 2Gb RAM and 160Gb of hard disk space. And it costs my father just $1000! (Ok, fine. That's in $AUD but still, it's quite cheap).
It's looking pretty good right now though Vista can be a pain in the ass sometimes, though it is cool. But I sure miss my ol' HP lappie. Sob sob. I thought we could last for like 5 years or so, but you failed me. Tsk tsk.
Anyway, getting a new laptop wasn't the crux of my excitement. Well, today I had a normal chat with my brother and we started discussing about his and my parents' pending arrival in July for my graduation ceremony. The original plan was to head down to Melbourne to visit my aunt before coming back to Brissy but after much consideration and planning, the costs was just too much to bear.
So, he said, "Why don't you go to Melbourne yourself?"
I replied, "Well, I was planning to but the costs are too much."
And miraclously, he wrote, "Just head on down yourself. I'll pay for it."
I was like, "Are you FREAKING serious?"
He wrote, "Yeah, sure. You deserved it."
I was pretty dumbstruck and asked, "Who are you and what have you done to my brother?"
Which was a rhetorical question to say the least but that my friend, has got the wheels turning. So then, I quickly searched for cheap airline tickets and after getting approval from everyone involved (Melbourne pals, Mom and Dad), I booked myself a return ticket to Melbourne on 30th Dec. Yeap, that's right. I'm ushering the New Year of 2008 in MELBOURNE!!! YAY!!!
Wahahaha. And that's why I couldn't stop jumping up and down now. It's so cool! I'll be spending 1 week in Melb and everything seems to be peachy at the moment. Hehe.
You know, the best things in life are always surprises and unexpected events. I can't tell you how happy I am right now but I can tell you this: My brother is the ABSOLUTE BEST BROTHER in the whole wide world. Love you, bro! Muaxxxx.....
Of course, there's a catch somewhere in there. He's been keeping tabs on how much I owe him nowadays and it has currently gone up by RM1000. Looks like I have to invest his money wisely next time and make him a millionaire to finally settle my long-lasting debt.
:)
Oh, but it's gonna be worth it.
